I am a Professor of Economics at Stockholm University. Before joining Stockholm, I held a position at Bocconi University in Milan, after completing my PhD in economics at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Affiliated with the Association of Swedish Development Economists (ASWEDE), Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), European Development Research Network (EUDN), and Theoretical Research in Development Economics (ThReD).

My research focuses on economic development and political economics. In development economics, I examine entrepreneurship in low-income countries, financial product design, and gender disparities in credit and agricultural markets. In political economics, I explore how political protests shape beliefs, activism, and policy decisions, and how the collective experience of state violence influences attitudes, behavior, and governance in authoritarian regimes.

Together with Hannah Druckenmiller, Solomon Hsiang, and Anna Tompsett, I currently lead a research program that digitizes historical aerial images to map long-term growth, institutional changes, and the economic impacts of climate events in developing countries.
